Hi, I just bought my first saltwater tank, the Marine x60.2 by waterbox. I bought the nyos 120 skimmer, and the xr15 blue light. I want to have sps and LPS, and i was wondering what else do i need to have a successful marine tank with beautiful corals, is refigum needed? or algae scrubber?

I would say no, not even the skimmer isn't necessary. Let the tank come to life, and assess your nutrient load after a while.

They basically do the same thing, removes excess nutrients. They are just a piece in a very large puzzle known as filtration.

Not sure what will all fit in the cabinet. Do you have an ATO system in there? Refugium are good natural ways to control algae and PH while also producing microfauna for your tank but do you have enough space or going external with some things?

I’ve had my tank (red seas 250) going for 4 months and I don’t have any of those. I have a few fish and a handful of mixed corals. I regularly check my chemistry and I’m currently at 5 ppm nitrates and 0 potassium (not shooting for 0s)… when I start having excess nutrients I’ll go with a refugium. My thought is do stuff with a purpose, and don’t mess with anything you can’t measure.

no SPS or LPS until your tank is older either way. Id say fuge is better, but growing stuff RN would not be great.

sulfur reactor..keeps nitrates in check, (check out info on parker's reef)..also a UV..helps keep parasites and algae in check. either manual or auto dosing, depending on how automated you want to go there could be a lot of stuff. There are alot of tank build threads on this forum to get ideas and ask questions...Have a great day..

You’ll definitely need a wavemaker or Powerhead of some type. You can wait on the algae scrubber till your nutrients start to rise

I'm a big scrubber fan

Then scubber is your way to go...everyone has a preference, I did away with my refug, got tired of the mess.
My sump is a sump. A water tank to put pumps and heaters in and as big as possible to increase water volume. High flow tray scrubber behind the tank drains to sump. Repeat. Lol I do have a skimmer in my oversized overflow box but the scrubber is it for nutrient control. Works for me.

“Phosphate” maybe?

I started my fuge as soon as I started my tank.
Feed a ton and am trying to stock heavy.
Now whenever I pull anything tank or sump its covered in copepods.

Yeah it is a maintenance item - once a week scrape down a pane of acrylic and rinse out the coarse filter foam. I like not dealing with feeding restraints.
