Im using a hamilton over a 30g cube right now with the above metioned ballast and bulb im just not 100% suree how well it will cover a 40b. I cant seem to find anyone using these reflectors, and I've been reading a lot about the LB reflectors and to get the spread it recomended 16"

With mine at 8" is easily covers a 30"x30" area. Raising it a couple more inches will def give you the coverage you need. Not sure if it really needs to be that high. It will not only light your tank at 16" but also the whole room lol

24" deep. Running 250w radium on galaxy ballast hqi and grow sps on the sand bed
