I have 4 saltwater tanks going at the moment. Two are QT tanks, one for inverts and one for coral and one is a FOWLR tank and one is a mixed reef tank. They all get saltwater I mix to 1.025, (or as close to it as I can get) and they are all on different water change scheduled, all different sizes and only two have an ATO system so I would figure the salinity would be different over time.
Long story short...I just bought a Milwaukee Digital Refractometer and tested the water in all systems as well as my storage containers and they are all exactly 1.025. Does this seem off to anyone? Should they not all be slightly different, especially the ones that I top off manually? I have calibrated the refractometer with the solution that came with it as well as with my RODI water and the results are exactly the same. Just wondering if maybe the unit is defective or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks in advance for any comments.
