I have a Spartan refractor Model a 300 cl that is used to measure Serum Protein/Urine Sp it has 3 scales at 20Degress 1. wt s.p. scale 0-12(left) 2.ND 1.335-1.36 ( middle) 3.U.G 5-50 (Right) Can it be used to measure salinity? how would I convert the scales? It is heavy duty/high quality equipment(ebay)... I was thinking if I could find water at 1.026 and test it, it would give me a Base Line or I'm... I way off base myself...Thanks EDDIE

I'm kind of lost. Lol but with my refractometer I just use the standard calibration fluid. I've heard bad things with using ro water for calibration, unless you are doing hypo salinity for treating fish diseases.

For a quick and dirty see what it registers with RO on it. If that looks ok, get some calibration fluid and see if that lines up to what it should. They only cost about $30 though.
