What refractometers are you all using? Maybe even include a link? Need to get one and thought id ask before i pulled the trigger. Noticed a few different ones, is any one better then another or is the quality similar among them?

I use a milwaukee instruments refractometer . Easy to calibrate you just have to put RO/DI water on the lens and hit calibrate and it rounds out. Great on batterie life and super easy to use.

+1 to Milwaukee. One of the best out there. You can buy it here - one of our sponsors! : )

You should calibrate your refractometer with a calibration solution at SG=1.0264. Pinpoint makes one such solution. Doing it with RO/DI will skew your readings.

I would look into a refractometer that has a more acute range, basically, one that doesn't have a reading all the way down to zero.

I test with a salinity probe now, I used to like my refractometer...that is until the temperature compensation failed and messed my readings up. This was the classic blue refractometer that everyone uses.

After that experience I wouldn't recommend a refractometer to anyone.
