Does anyone run a similar setup to this? Maybe even having the skimmer running off of the return pump section itself? My thinking is either that the skimmer is cleaning good stuff out of the refugium.. or the skimmer will be destroying the pods on the way back to the display. Any experience with this theory?

Similar to what?

Do you have gravel in the refugium? DSB in the refugium?

You can put a skimmer anywhere you want in the system. Saying that you want you skimmer to be in a area where the water level is the most consistent. To put a skimmer in the return area would no be the best place because the water level is always changing there. As far as pods go, they get beat up by lots of things, like power heads, return pumps and so on so a skimmer would be just another ride....

Any opinions on which will work better ?
