Hi All,

I will be constructing a custom sump out of a 30 gallon breeder in support of a 120gallon reef tank.

I will use a SRO 2000 INT skimmer and a fuge with a return pump in the middle separating the two.

My question is in regards to the contents of the fuge. Should I include a Deep Sand Bed (DSB) or a bare bottom with lots of LR and chaeto algae? I was going to put the algae in with a DSB for copepod habitat but am now thinking LR may be a better method.

What are your thoughts on the above and/or what would you put in a refugium??

Thanks,
AA

I like the DSB, option as your pods will help in food for tank, eating detrius...

We have ours with dsb, lr, calurpa.

Is a DSB that necessary for pods though? I thought they needed a safe harbor but sand depth wasn't a factor.
