Refugium denizens

Hello!

Will a Saron shrimp and serpent star do fine in a rubble compartment of a refugium with no sand? I am reading Saron shrimp like to pick at the sand bed - would love to have one, don’t want it with my corals, but don’t want it to starve. I don’t run filter socks and can observe a decent amount of detritus where they will be living. Also will they mind fairly high flow?
