So I see some sump like the georeef that have the filtered and skimmed water feeding the refugium and other sumps that get a feed to the refugium before skimming or socks. I under you get better nutrients into the refugium directly from the tank, but have to clean more detritus in the refugium. Is it possible to get enough nutrients after the water is filtered and skimmed and through your return line?

I have both options to run to my refugium and not sure to either run direct feed to refugium from DT, branch of return pump feed, use a separate pump to feed refugium from the return chamber?

Thank you for any advice. I did search the forum but could not find anything.

Chaeto and copepods.
i think the decision is up to you for this situation. nutrients would definitely still be present in filtered water and yes more junk will build up from unfiltered water but may slightly benefit how quick things grow
