I got some macro algae for my refugium, not 100% sure what kind but said to be chaeto (though it had balls on it and when I look it up it seems it should just be green strings). Within a few days there was red slime growing on the outside of my socks and seemingly all over my macro.
i was afraid to just cut off the parts with red because it seemed it was everywhere so i just took the whole thing out.
Now, I can't find any chaeto to replace it.
I'm VERY new at this and have been having service more than 2x a month.
I'd like to do more myself and would like to get a good refugium going.

Any ideas?
Thanks,

You can find a bag-o-cheato on here from time to time shipped for $15. I'd send you some but i just trimmed mine up.

I am sure someone will chime in shortly and offer you some. The stuff grows like weeds.

If no one has any to offer I can probably spare a small chunk.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!!

Sounds like low flow causing the red algae to grow. Whats ur Refuge light cycle? and of corse parameters?

definitely sounds like a flow issue... is there enough water flowing through? If not, you can always add a little power head...
