Yes. It was in the chamber before the chaeto. I’m going to stop that practice and just make a half bucket of saltwater and raise it that way.

You should always dissolve the salt in a bucket and let it sit for a new hours while heated and mixed checked throughout. The salt crystals take time to break down and if doing it your way you will likely not notice a spike till it’s skyrockets. Less is more remember that

I just added an h380 to my refugium and had chaeto and other stuff already but this light made my ph shoot from 7.6 to 8.1 in the matter of days and I had zero effect on salinity there is something else going on
The something going on was the chaeto consuming co2.

With mine ya I get that I’m talking about his bud something else going on making his salt rise. I was giving him an example of how mine just went and how no other parameters suffered I understand the concept of photosynthesis

I'm sorry thought you were asking about the pH rise with no effect on salinity. I always have a pH rise with adding plants to Fw or algae to saltwater

Honest mistake lol. Currently running a 24 hour because when I turn it off it drops. Giving sufficient light and growth till it can sustain itself and I have it growing out my ears
