So, looking to add a Refugium to my tank and wondering what you recommend for adding to the fuge.

Is one macro the best? Which one?

Is there a good combination of macros?

Can they inhibit each other's growth?

What might be good to grow for tang food?

What about live rock? Or sand? With cuc to clean sand?

What about mangroves? That worth it?

Best lighting? Wavelength and color temperature?

What about flow rate? Can it be too fast or slow?

What's the best way to grow copepods and what type are best for your tank and fish to eat?

Sorry for all the questions. I figured it would be nice to spur some discussion. Feel free to add you 2 cents.

No idea how right I am but I went with low flow from DT and a small power head. I'm lighting 24 - 7. Picked up some cheato from the lfs. It came with 3 things actually though mixed in. Cheato, grape calpura and something else Idk. In the research I've done seems like there all fine as long as you don't let it over grow and start dying. After a couple weeks I threw in a couple blue legs and a conch. Oh yah. There's about 2" of sand in mine. I figured that was enough to catch bad junk and I could still clean it or even junk half of it every year. I have a few pieces of live rock for critters to hide.

Little video of my refugium. Would love to hear what others are doing though. I also have a led bulb coming from reef radiance. I will be turning my light off for 5 hrs during the day at that time. Reverse of my peak lighting in the DT.

Lol that was one week after building my skimmer sump refugium build. It's getting all kinds of random stuff growing in there now.

Yah it got built last month!

I changed around the plumbing and stuff like 4 times. But 3 piece to fit in the door of the stand.

I'm still gonna pull it apart one more time and change where the water enters the skimmer section cause I wanna add a sock. Built a tray for a Floss filter but it gets dirty way to fast. I'm not big on daily maintenence. Weekly at best!

Also gonna add some height to my bubble trap I think. I'm at 7.5" in my skim area wanna get to about 9" for my diablo 225 xs to be optimal I guess.

I didn't get much response on my thread either. Still thinking about how to make my cuc right in there. Want something that will eat my stray cheato.
