I am bout to setup the refugium on my Waterbox 220.6. The area dedicated to it is approximately 15 x 8.5 x 12 deep. Need it to start controlling/reducing nutrients as well as want to get the pod population going in my tank.

Let me know what you guys think.

I got the AI Fuge Light, works great for me.
I looked at a bunch of them, including that light. I just wasn’t sure sure if that powerful of a light including some kessils are necessary for the little space I have dedicated in my sump.

At the same note I would rather pay once. So that is my debate.

You can adjust the light from 0 to 100. So if you ever get a bigger tank/refugium you can use the same light. Just my opinion. I always buy things that if/when I upgrade I can still use them.

Any bright horticulture light will work.
I have used this for 3 years.
COB LED Grow Light Full Spectrum, CANAGROW 100W Waterproof Grow Lights for Indoor Plants, Plant Growing Lamp with New Technology, Natural Heat Dissipation Without Noise

I have seen this light on many posts about fuge lights. I haven’t really spared any expense on my tank, but this is one expense I was like; “is spending over $2-300 on a fuge light necessary?”. Then when looking at the light you posted just now, “do I need to go this cheap even though it seems to really pack a punch?”.

Another important detail is I definitely want to reduce light spillage as best as I can, not sure if that is really important or not that the same time.

I can’t speak on the Gro but I have two of the Tunze lights on my fuge. They grow chaeto like crazy. Lush, thick green growth. I love that I can keep them down in the water so there’s no light spill.

I have a Tunze, and it is working like it should. It sits in the water so there is no flooding(light) over to other areas of the sump.

Been using the apex fuge light for 8 months now, grows cheato very well, your suppose to keep it very close to the water which helps with light spillage. before that I used that exact link light from amazon and I doubt its waterproofness after a few months it was giving me small shocks I think the salt creep gets to it after awhile

Light spillage will more be handled by adjusting the height of the lights or using black acrylic or other things to block the light, but that would be the same with all refugium lights

How can I tell if colored acrylic is safe for aquarium use? Apologies if this is a dumb question- perhaps all acrylic is safe. You mentioned other things can block light- what materials do you believe are safe?

black acrylic is safe to my knowledge as well but this stuff works great as well and can be put it water, i use the green one which is great between sump baffles and can probably handle up to 1000gph, the blue one is denser so probably less flowrate if in the actual water, but more light blockage
