If space is a constraint why not consider a scrubber?
I don't want to push the system too hard just want a little nutrient reduction from chaeto. Eventually hoping coral will take over and keep nutrients in balance but the system is too new right now.

Yeah. Don't we all but practically that doesn't work. Also remember you can just light the fuge/scrubber to match your nutrient pull as well as you can take advantage of it and feed your tank more which will help your corals grow faster due to the high input and high export. Just a thought though.
