I’m putting together my my fug I don’t want to spend any unnecessary money on a light. I have a Chinese Black Box light sitting in my garage. Would that be a sufficient enough light?

It will "work" but not the best option. if you go to youtube and search for BRS they have a whole video with tests on the best options for lighting a fuge. some are cheap options and some not so cheap options. if the fuge with chaeto is going to be your main way to export nutrients then it is not unnecessary spent money it is the best spent money.

It will work. What light is necessary depends on things.
Is the fuge in the sump or a remote one?
How big is it?
What sort of things will you put in your fuge?
Rock
Sand
Macro Algae
Pods
Snails
Hermits
Lets us know.

I have a redsea 525xl I’m turning the 5g resovor into the fuge. I have a some bio balls in the sump and a bio brick I’m planning on putting in there along with some chato

I think that light would work. If it could grow GHA in a display tank, I would think it could grow chaeto! I got an actual grow light for my fuge and it works great.
