I have a Red Sea 425 xxl that I’m starting up. My refugium light, a Kessel A160, is a carry over from a previous tank that ran for 4 years and sat in the garage for another year. It shorts out and needs replaced. It was used in a larger refugium previously. My current fuge has a usable area of about 9in x 9in and 10in deep. The goose neck puts my light about 9 inches off the water.

Should I replace the light with another A160? Is there a better option for this size fuge?

i’ve found the submersible lights work much better at growing chaeto..,
perhaps this could be an option for you

there’s a red one too,
but i prefer the white (can keep a frag rack this way)
and it still grows chaeto like weeds!

I looked at this but it’s bit too long. I have a dosing section blocked off so that I can add 2 part with the power head and not have cheato get into the pump. I could move that powerhead to the skimmer section but I’m concerned that the additives will just get pulled up into the skimmer
