Refugium Light Schedule

My local WWC had told me that I needed to run my refugium light the opposite of my tank light schedule. I was unclear on what he was exactly talking about or why he said that so I came here. I was thinking maybe he said that because he thought my tank light would be providing my refug with light that would grow my cheato, but that is not the case. My tank light provides little light to my refug chamber so I was wondering why I wouldn’t just run the light full time to get optimal cheato growth. Maybe it’s just better to run the light during the night for some reason? Please share if you have any experience with this or could explain this to me. Thanks!

People run their fuge opposite schedule from the tank to help keep the pH from dropping during the night.

If you light your fuge 24 hours you are gonna rapidly burn through all the nutrients and elements that the macros need to grow. But if your nutrients are really high, this may be the way to go.

my display turn on from 9 to 7pm. My refugium is on from 7pm to 3am.

I only run my fuge for 6 hours every other day so I don’t crash my nutrients, did it when I fist set it up and had a good battle with dinos and won so not doing that again.

My tank is high nutrient.
