Does anyone use the kessil h160 light to grow chaeto?

I know there are less expensive options so I would like to know if the higher prices bring better growth and greater success.

While the kessil H series are some of the best IMO, there are also ufo grow lights sold on amazon that do an amazing job, they run anywhere from 40 to 80 bucks

Ive got the h80 in mine growing chaeto and it does a great job. I'm even getting coraline growth in some places with it. The 160 is triple the wattage so it should definitely work.

Depends what size your refugium will be. But I had an h80 and it did an incredible job until I took my refugium down.

My refugium section in my sump is 14"x14" with about 9" of water in it. Would the h80 be good enough or does the h160 seem like a better choice?
Yes. The h160 would be perfect for a fuge that size.

I use the Nova Ever Grow refugium light. cost around 140$ & works great !

My H80 gives great results in a 10x15x9” fuge. Grows cheato 7” deep and in a 10x10” size and solid think. I mean when I pull it out it’s a cube, so no tumble at all. I don’t know how it does this but it does.

I was going to say get the H160, thinking it would give bigger spread, but I just looked and it’s the same spread rating. If I did it over I would get the H160 because I have the H80 turned all the way up. You can always turn it down if needed.

I should probably mention that the bottom of my refugium does have about 4" of marine pure so the chaeto will only be about 5 inches deep.
