simple home depot LED 5000k 120 or 150 watt equivalent daylight led br40 works very well.

Red should grow green algae marginally faster however the wattage and efficiency of the light is much more important. As there are other compounds in algae that absorb different spectrums besides chlorophyll.

Also the expense of special red/blue grow lights is not worth it and 5000k will look more aesthetically pleasing. You can run your lights up to 18 hours a day for most algae to maximize nitrate/ phosphate removal if necessary.

How is the tunzecwaterproof refugium led have a buddy that’s giving it to me

Its ok for something like a 5 gallon refugium. but for about $15-20 bucks you could a much more powerful bulb and clamp lamp.

If your getting it free you can try it out see if nitrate phosphate stay down.

Don’t have high nitrates they are between 5 n 10 using a marine pure block for them as far as phosphates they were over 20 I’m using chemipure elite so it’s going down but don’t wanna keep buying chemipure it can’t get really expensive so figured a refugium would be a better option try to keep everything stable don’t have to starve my fish just to keep nutrients down I have a Red Sea reefer 750xxl

Good success with this

This one is on deck

Also, try to raise Chaeto to surface for best par.
I use live rock to within 3 to 4" of surface.

It sucks sold it went to Home Depot and bought a 150 watt Philips br40! Led bulb cheato is growing like crazy
