Well, my refugium light broke on me. Salt corroded the dimmer switch on this Chinese black box VIPARSPECTRA Dimmable DS350 350W LED Grow Light

It actually consumes 130w of power. Spectrum - of course doesn't compare to the big name lights.

Now, I'm coming to you all because the light was pretty under powered. While I was able to grow 5 gallons of chaeto a month, I still got a lot of hair algae in the display tank with phosphates rising. (.11 ppm now)

I really hate the big price tag of the big names so I'm scratching my head. What other options do I have?

Note: I really don't think Par 38 bulbs or the likes are going to cut it.

If you were growing five gallons of Chato a month the problem is not the light.

I’d look for a fanless pink light to replace it honestly. Or freshwater planted tank light strip.
