I haven't had much algae at all in my tank. No cyano and the glass only needed to be cleaned once a week.

I recently upgraded my leds and i replaced my t5s. I added a kessil h380 to my sump and added calurpa and chaeto. After about a week the sump has algae growing everywhere and now im getting, just a few, very small patches (quarter size) of what looks like cyano in the dt. The dt glass gets a film of green algae daily, it used to be brown before all the upgrades. Is this due to the new lights or the refugium upgrades, or is it a combination of both? Should the algae decrease a bit in the dt when the macro really starts kicking off?

How long are you running the h380 for?

Did you increase feeding or stop doing water changes since?

12 hours. I feed the same amount, two servings per day during the weekdays and three on the weekends. about 10% weekly to biweekly water changes. All of my maintenance and husbandry has not changed. I understand the algae in the sump, but dont get why its so much more now in the dt. By no means is it a lot though, just compared to what it used to be.

That's interesting. I run the small brother ( h80) and was running 24:7 and started growing algae in the refgium. As soon as I cut the light to 12 hours opposite to the main lights, it's dyed down.

Refugiums with its high lighting are known to having all sorts of algae grow. I'm seeing that people say that with all the food/detruis that gets caught up is known to aiding the growth of cyano.

I was just try to siphoning some out during your next water change.
