Refugium lighting

I have been running my newly set up refugium for about a week. I bought a par38 grow led that has two different red spectrums and one blue spectrum. I have had the light on 24/7. Is this a bad thing and can it burn or inhibit chaeto growth. First day I installed it the display tank class was crystal clear and have never had to even clean it all week it looks freshly cleaned still. So I left it on the whole time. My system runs lower nutrients is another reason why I figured I would just leave it on the whole time. Today someone mentioned that it can be bad too leave it on 24/7 and I am wondering why or any suggestions or help.

12/12 is better. 24/7 isn't good.

If you have no nutrients the chaeto won't do so well, it will start to melt away.
