So I recently purchased a 210 gal aquarium and I'm busy purchasing the necessities. I told the sales person at my LFS that I needed a Kessil H380. I watched the BRS video that looked at refugium lights. It said that the Kessiil H380 won hands down. Every time I have to clean my aquarium, I will have to stand on a step-stool because I am 5'5'', and I will be leaning over the water. I also have epilepsy (seizures), so I have to make certain my husband is nearby when I am leaning over the water. I want the best light out there for attracting algae. I don't want to lean over my tank more than I have to. The sales person acted as if I was insane and said I didn't need anything so powerful. If possible, I want there to be zero algae in my tank. I'm in the learning process. What should I do? Is what the BRS video correct? Or should I go with a cheaper light. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback.

I will say that I use the H380 and absolutely love it. If you're running a large refugium it definitely wins in my mind. Kessils customer service is also absolutely excellent. And to me part of the product is the company behind it. Any issues and they'll get you taken care of. I would absolutely recommend the h380 :)

Thanks a million. I appreciate your input. :-)

Considering BRS scientifically experimented (and did a great job) and your LFS didn’t I would go with the evidence :) the kessil produces the wavelengths that algae uses therefore it wakes sense to use that light. If it’s too bright you can raise it up.

Kessil H80 or 380 fantastic. If cost is an issut, a clamp on gooseneck holder with par 38 or red par bulb will work. Do not use reptile bulb- they run hot
