I will be setting up a 280 gal and was wondering which way to go. The sump has a refugium section that could be used for a scrubber. I would like to know which would be better.

I know very little about scrubbers other than lots of maintenance n it takes a while to get them working or building up algae you have to scrape but a reactor is something I have n it's great at keeping numbers n order R

Oh still have to pull chaeto out but not that bad good luck R

It’s really a personal preference I think more than anything. Both do essentially the same thing, they just go about it in slightly different ways. Both are live algae used to strip excess nitrates and phosphates out.

scrubbers aren't bad on maintenance, clean the screen when full. Just leave a little algae on the screen to keep it seeded.
