Refugium photoperiod

I’m about setting up my refugium with mainly grape caulerpar for nutrient control, I’ve heard that they need to be lid 24/7 to prevent them to go sexual, but I’m planning on giving them a reversed photoperiod to stabilize the pH fluctuation between day and night on my DT tank. Will they go sexual from it ? I will also prune/trimming them weekly.
