Refugium question for new sump design.

I’m sick of my aio tank and going back to a sump. I’m kind of confused as to what style I want. Do I need to skim first then pass thru refugium or refugium first then skim.

I guess it depends if you want socks or not.. my tank goes from overflow > socks> skimmer > return > refugium.

I skim first then it goes to my refugium. It was the way my fuge was set up when I bought it so I just went with that. Seems to work well. My sump is a 40 breeder conversion.

I like it a lot! Especially as I think about doing more with my tank. Like dosing and whatnot. I’d happily recommend it!
