Hey guys. I recently set up a new sump/refugium with chaeto in the fuge. Normally I see that the chaeto tends to float but in my system it just sinks. I feel that it's caused by the layout as I have flow on only one side running across. I was thinking of adding a power head to help it stay afloat and was wondering how many of you actually use a ph in their fuge. I was thinking of a Tunze 6015 but that is rated @ 475 gph. Would that be ok or should I go with something smaller. If smaller, what would you recommend?

Thanks guys.

Very good question. I just set mine up also and would love to hear others opinions.

I had a Koralia 4 pointed at mine (1400gph I think). Yours will be fine. It's not needed though. Mine tends to sink when I remove it from the tank or add some that is new. Once it starts to grow and produce oxygen it will get small bubbles in it and then it will float. I'd just give it time. You can use the powerhead too though if you want. Some use it to make the chaeto tumble and get light on all sides but it's not a must. The more mine grows the more it floats.

I just put a couple in mine to help with that as well. It also helps to prevent gunk build up as I'm now seeing.

Thanks for the info and advice

I was thinking the same thing. My fuge is somewhat small so I think I will be ok with the one pump
