Refugium question

I made a basket to use as my refugium, I realized if the basket is completely submerged the micro algae will float all over the sump area so I placed a rock under the basket and used a suction plug to lift it about 1-2 inches above the water line. Should this work ?
I also have an innovative chaeto light and a small pump to circulate the water in the sump area.
Anything else I need besides the chaeto ?

Make sure pump intakes downstream of the refugium are protecteted from things you put in the refugium... bits of macro...hitchhikers, snails, etc...

I’m using a small pump as a powerhead to circulate the water in the chamber where the basket will be.
