my currant sump don't have room for a refugium what is my best option to add a refugium one of the hang on the back or takeing a 10 or 20 gal tank and makeing one whish would give the most benfit my sump is a eshopps sump its 13 gal

I've never used one of the hang-on's but the largest is only like 5 gallons - so it's usefulness may depend upon what size your display is. Personally, for less money, I would opt for using a separate tank as your fuge.

If you have room and the ability to plumb in a small 10 gal somewhere I think that would save you some money and be more beneficial as Kszegi said if only for the increased volume. I also have not tried the HOB fuges tho, i guess one advantage for the HOB lies in that it is directly tied to your main display which would make the distance traveled shorter between the pod and a fish/coral mouth.

Either way, just provide enough hiding and breeding spots (like a ball of chaeto) and pods will reproduce like mad no matter where you put them.

i used the aquafudge 2 Hang on on my sump. Worked good i guess? It was only 5gal and probably way small but helpped to keep all my wrasses and mandarian feed on my system. I just took it offlike, probably won't use any more.

I checked into HOB refugiums a few years ago and found them to be very expensive and worried (probably needlessly) about the weight hanging on the back. So much cheaper to buy a small tank and make it exactly what you want.

As I have been researching a lot befor I set up my tank I will ask what was asked of me...what are your goals for the fuge?
