I have a 180 gallon tank that returns its water to a 45 gallon refugium, which then returns water to a 50 gallon sump. I have about 60 lbs of live sand and about 30 lbs of live rock in the refugium now. I recently purchased some macroalgae and some copepods also to put in there. My question now, is should I have a clean up crew (snails, crabs, starfish etc...) in the refugium?

I wouldn't put a CUC in the Fuge, if they get ahold of the macro algae, they'll munch it down. When doing tank maintenance is when you clean it up some.

I would not put up a clean up crew in there. You will end up "cleaning" your refugium and the sole purpose is to grow macro algae for nutrient export (or food) and different "pods" to feed your fish/coral. The "fuge" is an area that doesn't allow predation so the microfauna and fauna can be delivered to your tank without even realizing it.

no dont put anything in the refugium....just your sand and nice pouris rock..know im not spe..but spelling that right..anyway just sand and nice rock...nice big clumps of caulerpra or chaeto....
