Refugium running for 1 month with Cheeto, nutrient levels unchanged

Hello everyone, I set up a Cheeto refugium in hopes to reduce my nitrates and phosphates. So far they haven't changed. I've been running the refugium lights for 12 hours at night. Should I try increasing the photo period?

Those are not right Cheetos, you are suppose to use green ones .
Also don’t let kids around your refugium.
