We're setting up a new 100 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump. We're going to do a fishless cycle using all DrTim's products following his timeline. My question is what do you consider the best refugium start up kit? The one I see the most is from AlgeaBarn. Does anyone know how good it is or if there's something better? Thanks

Really all you need to set it up is macroalgae and and a good light and that is it. I haven't used algaebarns kit but I really like them as a company and its where I have gotten macro from as well as phyto once.
I highly recommend chaetogro if you are not doing weekly water changes.
Also, what refugium light are you planning on using? Most people screw up by getting a cheap light that has practically no par or the wrong spectrum so that I why I asked.

i like algaebarn's products since they're clean and i haven't had any problems with pests getting introduced to the tank because of them. i think they're a pretty solid company but if you're on a budget you can check around ebay for some chaeto deals
