Hello,

I am going to place a CPR in sump refugium small into my Red Sea Reefer 170 and wanted to see if anyone had any advice on placement/ what all should go into it/ when is the best time to start it/ are any additives needed? This is my first saltwater tank so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ben

need a bit more information about system and sump, pictures are always good...
what are you trying to accomplish/solve?

The system is a Red Sea reefer 170 that is 34 gallons in main display and I think 7-8 gallons in the sump area. I was thinking of placing the Refugium behind the skimmer and the goal is to control nitrates and phosphates, introduce copepods and build up as much beneficial bacteria as possible

that is good, you want the refugium to be as large as possible but other than that you should be good. placement in that size system will not matter too much as long as there is flow and a grow light of sorts
