I need help finding a refugium light doesnt anyone have one that they like. I dont want t5s

I'm using a glass covered PC bulb with a clamp on reflector from homedepot. Cheap and does the trick.

I use this Gled® 27w Red+blue E27 LED Hydroponic Plant Flowers Vegatables Greens it works great they grow extremely fast that I was able to give some awayv

I just use old non dimmable aquarium led fixtures over my 2 refugiums. The Chaeto grows fast enough that I don't have any algae issues in the DT's and I can keep 'excess' corals on the DSB next to the refugium!

I use one of those big aluminum clamp on type but put a metal halide bulb in it. Home spot sells 100 watt bulbs and the fixture for it. Just wire it the fixture as you would a ballast for it. Works amazing

Will any 5000k bulb work

Using three 50 watt LED's over my 60 gallon refug, one red, one blue and one 10k white. Ever since I installed them my chaeto and other macroalgae have exploded in growth!

I'm using the Reef Radiance DM-5e. Only 5w! 2xRB, 1xRed, 1xWhite65k, 1x Violet. Surprisingly it's working wonderfully. :) My fuge area is only 13x12x8

I will be using a Yard Master Floodlight Holder, made for outdoor use. It has a rubber gasket that makes the socket water resistant. It has an adjustable bracket that can be mounted inside the stand. I have used these for years.

For the bulb, I am using a TCP 1P381651K 16W=75W equivalent 5100k Par 38 bulb. Internal reflector in the bulb, so no bulky clip on reflector needed. Saw the bulb on the Melev's Reef web site.

I'm using this one and is doing crazy growth! My third time using these lights.

The bulb in this is 150W High Pressure Sodium bulb. Are you using this inside of your stand? What about heat?

I am also working on a remote refugium for my 140 and I got a light from Build My LED. You can get them different lengths (12" to 72"). The refugium will be outside of my stand and partially visible, so I wanted something more aesthetically acceptable than clamp lights. Can't comment on how it works yet though. It appears to be be a quality product. Built to order in the USA.

Personally, I'd go with a BuildMyLED refugium specifc fixture - I use the Refugium "Green Algae Spectrum" series. You can go to their website at www.buildmyled.com/saltwater-products and check them out - they have full photometric reports so you can see values of each spectrum, which is the most important thing when looking for a light for any specific purpose. I used to use a typical 5K compact fluorescent, I didn't like having an open CFL glass lamp above water - being an electrician by trade, I also didn't like using a clamp fixture for a "wet location" when not rated for such the corrosive evironment the light lives in. What if the lamp were to break? Mercury, phosporous, glass amongst other things right into the fuge! I'm also not fan of the little ballasts on the individual CFL lamp, I occasionally refer them to as firestarters, the cheaper ones have been known to blow out and potetially cause a problem. That said, BuildMyLED's service is something to be said for, one word - EXCELLENT. From start to finish, Nick and his team were gentleman and even helped me customize the fixture to the size I wanted. Not only did I get status updates on the build, but they truely stand behind their product. Now the important part, the results - the growth is absolutely incredible, I nearly have to trim by chaetomorpha weekly because of how fast it repenishes itself after a trim. One last thing, I also like the remote driver as I was able to neatly mount it in my control cabinet. Kudos to BuildMyLED for my experience.

You will be nothing less than satasfied with the performance of the BuildMyLED fuge light, the growth is amazing - and one of the few that are "tuned" for specific algae refigiums. I run one and it has been amazing, even the process of ordering was a breeze.

Lol, what heat? Seriously.. And yep, 150 watt hps(16K lumens/footcandles) With this low a wattage bulb, I don't get any heat increase at all, and the fixture is sitting right on the sump (Tank)..

Only when i was growing plants and went up to the 250 eat bulbs did i even get heat..
