Regal angel dorsal fin issue

I have a regal in QT. Something is going on with his dorsal fin, but I am not sure what this is. He is in there alone, so it is not from other fish. I am not sure if this is an external damage prior to shipping or some kind of bacterial infection. Fish is eating and does not express any major discomfort.

I've got an indo blue-belly regal in QT with a similar ding in her dorsal, which seems to be healing. She's (mine, not yours) got some lymphocystis going on, but appears to be recovering nicely.

Your fish's dorsal isn't showing me anything that warrants worry - at least not yet. I can't guess whether that's a week old shipping injury or something he's been carrying for months, a souvenir of an encounter with a predator on the reef. I'd say stay watchful, but proceed with your usual QT protocol.

Watch for a red, pink or white fuzzy or slimy-looking edge to the fin / wound area, and watch day to day to see which direction the nick is progressing. If it's getting deeper / closer to the fish, it's time to break out the antibiotics; if it's filling in with healthy tissue, it's time to pour yourself a tall glass.

If needed, the combination of Kanaplex, Metroplex (both by Seachem) and Furan-2 (by API) has worked very well for a lot of folks 'round here.

Just want to share my Indo Pacific regal. He is in QT for 2 weeks now going very strong! He is slightly larger than my Indian Ocean variant. I am going to try to pair them once time is ready.
