Regal angel finally

Came across a regal today at the lfs, eating mysis and the romaine lettuce in their tank. So naturally it came home with me!

Temp floated and added to the DT. Skittish when I go to the tank but it’s exploring the new pad.

So are Regals reef safe? I hear yes and no. Seems like LPS become a good snack. What are your opinions?

Yes a moorish idol, blonde naso and copper band with some fire fish, clown, spotted puffer and chromis.

No, I do not qt, haven’t in 11 years and not starting now. All other fish where float temp and drop in dt as well.

Regals are more reef safe than others but the idol isn’t exactly reef safe either as it likes acans. I only have some blastos, hammer and candy canes for lps. So is it eats them no biggie...

My idol has eaten the tips off my wwc yellow tip once but I make sure to keep it well fed and it hasn’t done it again.

Finally coming out in the open now!

Cool, glad you never had a prob. I don't have your luck. How old is the Moorish, always wanted one. But shied away because what others had said. Always like to here positive results, sound like having some acans for them to snack on is one. What else do you feed?

Had the idol since October and the guy I got it it from had it for a few months so hard to nail down how long it’s been in captivity but I’d imagine about 10 months?

It eats everything I put in the tank, by far my most aggressive eater. Hair algae, nori, pellets, mysis, brine, romaine lettuce, live clams, coral...

It is also the king of my tank, puts everyone else in its place in the pecking order. I already see 2 nips in the tail of the regal from the idol.

This morning turned out to be exciting! Got the angel to eat pellets! Indo regal just cleared its major hurdle.

They are in a 180, though I do feel it will be cramped as the naso gets larger soo, that would give me the change to ho bigger or would have to sell off someone in a few years [emoji848].
