I just noticed that my regal angel seems to have lost the black mask over his eyes. I've had him around 2 years now, bought him as an adult so it's not like he's changing. I believe he's red sea but I dont know how to tell the difference in the indian ocean and red sea ones (not the grey belly indo).
Anyone see this before? I tried looking up pics of others and they all have the black over the eyes.
I thought it might be lights, I just turned them down a bit to see if that makes a difference (I know it'll take awhile to make any difference).
Here is before and after

I've only seen regals do that (sample size = 1) when stressed by disease. Is he exhibiting any other symptoms?

Does anyone else on the #reefsquad have an experience like this with a regal angel?

His eyes appear to be a bulging a bit as well. Has he been scratching or flashing lately?

Hexamita? Are there little holes where the black used to be?

You sure a someone didn't accidentally kill your fish and replace it with another one? Lol. Those 2 pics look like different fish... that's crazy.

Might be a bad pic in the 2nd. His eyes are normal size as far as bulging, no holes. Skin is clear, colors are the same intensity. They always freak out a little when I point the camera at them, trying to look left and right and dart. I just did a large water change and fed selcon soaked food so the water isnt very clear in the 2nd pic either.

He's not been scratching. The whole display just went through prazi pro last week as well as a preventative to make sure no angels had flukes.

One thing I do notice is a little bit of a haze in the eyes towards the top of the eye. You can sort of see it in the 2nd pic. A lot of my fish have it (reason for prazi thinking it might be flukes). It's not a cloudy eye, just a slight fog in one part of the eye. I was reading up and lights being too bright can cause this I guess. Another reason I turned my lights down a noticeable amount. I did actually fresh water dip this regal before doing prazi and nothing at all showed up or fell off, but I still went thru prazi for the heck of it.

I would suggest dosing vitamin in the frozen to help build the over all immune systems and health. There are a couple of products out there that are like a multi vitamin and also dose vitamin c for stress in the frozen.

I typically do. I try to do selcon when I can. I also dose vitachem in the food as well but I have to keep that light. For some reason the fish dont like it as much. Typical feeding is NLS pellets, NLS flake (rarely feed that but this regal loves flake for an odd reason) nori every day, mysis, frozen etc etc. Typical varied diet.
