Looking to add a regal to my mixed reef, but I would like to hear from those that have one now or had one, how are they with clams, lps and sps (mainly worried about clams)? Also, any tricks to assist first feeding if needed? Thanks guys

here is a picture that i took last night of my prized fishy. it has been a perfect citizen in my mixed reef. 7 months in my care and hasn't nipped on anything. It's in a tank with a crocea clam, lps, sps and softies. It only eats pellets and nori (julian sprungs sea veggies) so that's perfect for me. Liveaquaria has a beatiful specimen right now on diver's den.

I've had mine for around 4 months now and I love mine. Mine has nipped at SPS from the start, occasionally nips at my clams, and picks at my scolys a bit as well. It's an Angelfish and will likely nip at something. Mine eats anything I put in the tank food wise (algae, mysis, Rod's, etc). While I do not blame the fish for any coral deaths, if you have a coral that is unhealthy, he / she will be the "closer". If you have LPS that is not doing well or an SPS piece that is STN / RTN, the fish will pounce on that. To me, it is worth the lack of polyp extension on my SPS and an occasional nip at my clams. I love the fish and plan to keep it in the tank. It will need a good hiding place and will be very shy at first (most likely).

In my opinion, nothing beats the look of a healthy Regal. They are just stunning!!! Pacific Island Aquatics (another sponsor here) also has these in stock I believe (where I got mine).

Thanks so far guys. I did see the nice one on LA . This guy would be going in my 240 with 3 young tangs (a black longnose, a chevron, and a orange shoulder).

I've had mine for over 4 years now and she ate some lps , but other than that , she has been great. Be careful when adding her. My purple tang would of killed her if he could of got ahold of her. For some reason, my purple hates new angels.

I've had mine for 2.5 months, though she was in captivity for another year before that. So far haven't seen her pick on any corals though I'm expecting the zoos will eventually get eaten. She eats nori, NLS pellets, PE and hikari mysis, cycloeeze, and spirulina flakes

Thanks Roni and Brad. My tangs shouldn't be an issue. They stilll are not sure who is the boss, but the chevron has the size for now(3.5 inches) and is in control (no fighting, just a lot of switching sleeping quarters). Orange shoulder and black are around 3 inches and can't decided who is the second in command. I intend to get a regal that has size just more than the chevron. I'll probally be adding a few other fish in at this time to off set the balance too (mabye only wrasses though).
