First of all, what's is the latest consensus of the fish? Reef safe with caution? Don't risk it? Eats only the most expensive LPS? Carnage to the bone?

OK, the twist. There are some 3 cm aquarium bred Regals available close to home. Anybody have experience with tank bred fish that defy their ocean habits? I'm in love the fish but corals first.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Thanks,
Mark

I have had a regal(wild) for two years now. He doesn’t touch sps or torches but he gobbled up acans and zoas. I haven’t tried anything else but he is my favorite fish.

I don’t have any experience with the captive bred but I hope that helps.

I have no acans but I have other medium polyp LPS that for now are fairly exclusive pieces. They will be common in five years when enough are cultured for distribution. All logic says stay clear of the angels. Its just a most beautiful fish. I'll put one on as my tablet wallpaper.

I just picked up a pair of Biota Goldflake Angel and Regal a month ago. All 3 are babies less than 2in and all started nipping on my zoas. I moved them to my big tank and was surprised how fast they adapted. I was hoping that they wouldn't mess with anything due to being captive bread but no joy.

My friend recommended this stuff to make the coral taste bad. A cap a day. I didn't try it. I knew nipping was a possibility so I'm glad they're doing well in the 300. No sign of nipping in there for some reason. Cheaper zoas I guess. It was going to be their eventual home anyway.
