Can a fish survive without eating for 2 weeks? My regal angle is , he has been refusing all kind of food for 2 weeks now, i am not sure if i did not see him eating or something

larger fish can go a while without eating but they do also graze on algae throughout the day. Try rubber banding nori to a rock so the nori is flat against the rock and see if it eats that

Is this fish a new addition? Or a fish you have had for a while and it has stopped eating?

Did you quarantine the fish?

When I first got into Regal Angels I bought adults from the Red Sea. The first took three weeks but was very fat (pictured in my avatar) The second took four weeks, once again very fat. Since then all my Regals are juveniles and eat most times the next day. I use a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub with liverock as a QT / Isolation tank.

I bought it as a fat adult and in QT now with pvc no live rock.

What foods have you tried to feed? Have you tried anything live like live black worms? I would contact the seller and see what it was eating before being shipped out.

Surprisingly he is still alive, i have been kept adding food into QT even he refuses it. I will try to ask seller what did he fed him.

Mine didnt eat for 16 days then he came out and just started eating pellets, took him another 10 days to even pick at frozen. Dont give up

Yes i tried everything, from live to frozen like almost everything

I would try using a piece of sacrificial rock, rubber band some seaweed to it to try to entice it with natural eating habits

Try oyster on th half shell. Seriously. If not, I was able to keep a moorish idol alive tube feeding it until it ate on its own. I’ll link a video from my experiment in tube feedings from years ago. It’s so rewarding when they finally eat after knowing they would have perished.

Half a fresh clam in the shell usually works best. I’d also try to buy a big pile of various macro algae’s and add it to the QT. IME regal’s (especially large regal’s) don’t do well in a sterile qt.

agreed on the tube feeding. It’s actually pretty easy. I have a tiny regal in QT now that was eating well but continuing to waste away. I tube fed panacur because I assumed it was due to internal parasites. Within a day it was more active and has been slowly regaining the lost weight. I did it one more time after 7 days just to confirm they were all dead.
