I'm going to be trying my first red sea regal here soon and awhile back I thought I read that people generally have more success starting with juvies than larger fish. Is that true? I can't seem to find that thread now.

In general it’s easier to get the juveniles to eat and adapt to tanks.

2”-4” have been the best for me. Any smaller or larger tend to be tougher to get going.
Agree with this. I‘d say up to 4.5, but true that smaller is often better.

Somewhere around 2.5 inches is the sweet spot for me. I have two small regales right now and it took them a day or so to get eating. Anything bigger than 3” is hit or miss.

Divers Den has one for sale right now. A juvenile yellow belly Maldives with USAVE15 discount and free shipping $254.99

Yes juveniles are better shippers and accept frozen foods very fast. You will find Redsea Juveniles are very expensive, while the Maldives Yellow Belly when in stock are much cheaper. Both are hardy and ship very well, good luck.

see if it eats any~.. doesn't' matter whether it's young and old...
