Hi everyone, a few months ago I purchased a carnation coral without knowing what it was. It was looking healthy and coming out for food regularly for around a month and a half. One day, it stopped opening and grew brown slime over it. Three days ago, I looked at it and the slime was partially gone and was disappearing day by day until today. It is now open like before. Has anybody else heard / seen of this before? Is this normal?

I was confident this was dead but had never got around to throwing it away. I’m glad I never got rid of it :)

Yes, I had the same thing happen to my Scleronephthya recently. It created a clear 'Mucus Tunic' that eventually became somewhat opaque, like some other soft corals do, and it took around 2 weeks to finally shed and expand again after I moved it.
