My aquamedic regulator is not working very well anymore. The bubble count is not consistent. It comes out fast then it slows down then speeds up and slows down. I try to adjust it so i get the flow i need and leave it for 30 mins only to find that it has stopped. I open up the valve a bit and it flows out fast, then i have to adjust it again.

Is it time for a new regulator or is there something i can do? Clean it? anything?

thanks

I have temporarily fixed this problem with milwauki rigs by setting the pressure a little higher. In the end, the best thing to do is buy a solid regulator with a solid needle valve.

After all the problems I've had with Milwauki I changed to a rig built by a couple of guys in the planted tank end of the hobby. I have two of their rigs and they are wonderful. I've recommended them to a few people in my local club and they are extremely happy with them also. Check them out if you decide to buy a new rig. They build to order. http://sumoregulator.com/.

I had one that did that and the only way I corrected it was by replacing the regulator.

I'll be glad when somebody comes out with a needle valve that you can actually set in less than 30 minutes. If I want to change the bubble count by 10 bpm I squeeze the knob pretty hard and put a little pressure on it. If I can't be sure whether I really moved it at all, that's usually when I moved it the correct amount. Extremely frustrating!
