Hello..
I'm 42 Dude From CFL, (originally from WNY) Been into aquatics off and on for about 30 years, single and no kids, and I live just an hour away from WWC and TSA. I was a brackish water keeper for a long while, with monos (Sebae and Argentinus) and leopard puffers. I kept that tank for a good 2 years even with Mangrove Trees growing out the top, but eventually decided to convert to salt. Slowly I crept the salt from 1.017 on up to 1.025, and the monos did not seem to care.
(Insert mono pic)
So then I decided to try my hand at saltwater. Needless to say it was more challenging to keep corals alive than fish, so i was up to the challenge. I reluctantly traded my monos for store cred and bought some Tomato Clowns and Damsels, I thought that was cool so I upgraded my filtration system and got some corals. It worked out well but it needed help, as even the algae on rocks was throwing me for a curve.
So as my tank progressed I found out the hard way the ins and outs of keeping an anenome for my clowns. I bought an anenome and the female bonded with the nem after about 2 weeks. Unfortunatly the first bubble tip did not survive and I was forced to watch my female Tomato Clown tear up the substrate in defiance of the non existent anemone. Fortunately I had patience but that lasted only so long as I traded the mated pair for store credit eventually.
Fast forward a few weeks or so, as I decided to add some GSP to the tank.
After that I ordered some corals from TSA and they were pretty well packaged and awesome looking to boot. But my skills in keeping meant they struggled as I did not test my dKh reguarly and most likely was too high for them at in or about 10dKh with addition of Aptasia on my cloves , so expensive lesson learned there. FYI, the GSP is still going strong today and growing.
Feather Dusters have been my new favorite in my fuge, (I have a 20g display fuge with Mangroves) This little guy has grown immensely and has even sprouted new feather dusters on to adjacent rocks. And the copepods here keep growing and growing, as I am thankful for that.
So beyond that I will be adding to this story, as I have added a Clown Tang and Yellow Tang, (That eat their fair share of nori lol)
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
