Hey guys so a day ago my lawnmower blenny chased my male clownfish out of the tank. Sadly he passed away as the female has been very depressed so I bought another clown today. I drip acclimated him and all went well but now there a lot of aggression in the tank. My female clown will chase/bit him if he gets to close and my peaceful 6 line will chase him everywhere. He’s only about a 1/2 big and my other clown is about 4 inches so there’s a huge size difference but it’s what I could get. The poor little guy is very stressed and just constantly at the surface getting blown around in the current! I’m not exactly sure what to do and how to help so any advice is fantastic!!

Females are dominant and territorial and can cause damage
Separate the female for a couple of weeks

follow vetteguys advice. Also I doubt the clown is depressed, those guys are psychopaths who will devour the male if it is too weak for its tastes. Even after being mated for a while

They’ve been together for years and I can tell she was very depressed there where signs that showed it!! As far as removing her it’s going to be quite difficult because at this moment I do not have another tank I can put her in

Ive seen cases of clowns that have been with eachother for years, only for one (almost always the female) to tear the other to shreds. Clowns feed off carnage, it was likely extra sated .

mine for example. mine was put in the same back and brought home from the LFS. here we are a couple months later, and the female is doing everythign she can to harass the male. i had to seperate, otherwise the male would eventually die of stress.

Well I’m my case scenario my clowns where very peaceful to each other and there was no aggression between them at all despite what other clowns might do and I know for sure it was the blenny that did it. But that’s getting off topic my problem is I’m trying to introduce a new male but he’s twice as small as her almost a baby I’m just not sure how to pair them together. I’m not disagreeing with you when it comes to clowns being aggressive but for some reason mine just weren’t. I do appreciate all the help

How did you separate them?
