Relationship between zoa, coraline algae and growth

My theory is for frag tiles only. When coraline algae takes over and covered frag tiles then zoa won't grow to coraline area and grow over them . This has impacted my zoa overall growth. Non coraline area is covered with lots of zoa but vice versa there are bald area with no zoa on frag tiles. What is yr thoughts on that?

P.S. I am only referring tiles situation and not on liverocks.

So you do not have the same experience in life rock? I have wondered this as well.

One thing has nothing to do with the other.
Neither tile nor live rock would have such problem.
Never heard about that... Zoanthids grow very well over any substrate or tile with coralline algae.
The only thing I can tell you is that if you get a polyp from the colony it will heal/grow slower than a small colony.
Get frags of 3 to 5 polyps minimum... Keep params stable and in good range. Maintenance in check and make sure no more predators/irritators...
