have you any experiences of fish you would think incompatible being big buddys. Ijust bought a 8 inch goldline grouper and the guy i got it from said ," you need to take this clown as well , its his best friend"
the grouper could swallow the clown whole, and yet the clown is by its side everywhere and if they do get seperated for a few minutes , when they come together again the clown is rubbing against the grouper and touching it with its mouth as though it is kissing it.
In all my years of fishkeeping i have never seen anything like this.
has anyone else experienced this with other fish

My royal gramma is scared of being alone and is almost a third clownfish. He’s always hanging around my pair’s hammer coral. They don’t mind him at all.

I think it’s because the tank is so under stocked the gramma is spooked if the other side where there’s so little life. Poor guy. He’s only just starting to come out and not be terrified of me when I walk by. I’ve had him for years now but haven’t been around frequently enough for him to not be scared. So much personality which, I think, is so weird for a fish that’s more of a free-swimmer anatomy. They always strike me as the less interesting (behavior-wise) types of fish.

not a great picture but the body of the grouper is obvious and you can see the little clown at the bottom of the picture

tomini tang and purple tang. I’ve heard horror story’s with this pair but mine swim together in harmony. Never leaving each other side.
