Hey everyone,

My girlfriend and I have been in the saltwater hobby since last September, when we bought our new home and decided to decorate it with a complete nano setup we had been eyeing for about a month at the LFS (a Fluval SeaEvo13 with heater, LR, sand, 2 clowns, some starter corals and cleanup crew). That held us over for about a month before we started adding more corals slowly.

By January, we needed more room and built our own 40g breeder with a 29g tall sump. I did the build on a budget with as much DIY and used stuff as I could find. I'm handy with construction, plumbing, electrical, etc., and I still haven't paid more than $1/lb for rock (I love my LFS!). I would eventually like to do a proper build thread, but we're both working full-time and PhD students as well (I enjoy the science and research involved in the hobby), and so finding time for posting here has fallen to the bottom of a long list of priorities.

However, I do need to start a build thread to ask a handful of questions for the newest tank (a 180g FOWLR for her future porcupine puffer), and since I regularly see (long-time lurker) the first responses to build threads recommend starting with the meet-n-greet forum, I thought I'd start here.

Thanks for all of the advice that has been posted, all of the time spent helping folks, and the greatness of the forum.

Best,
Jared
