I have a rock that came in with 2 Bright orange ricordia mushrooms. They're awesome and now the rock is covered in about 8 Ricordia mushrooms (after about 8 months of it being in my tank). The rock is an island by itself in the sand. I'd like to get the Ricordia on to a few other rocks so they fill in some of my lower light areas and/or be on the sides of some of my rocks. Is there a way to pry them off and glue them on to a new rock without damaging them? Do I need to worry about toxins in doing this?

You can point a powerhead at some of them. Ricordea are corallimorphs, and they can let go of the rock they're on, like anemones, when in a bad place. You have to be careful they don't get blown away, but they will let go when annoyed by the flow, and you can just put them somewhere else.

They get really slimy when handled, but I don't think they're toxic. I sure hope they aren't, I handled one the other day to attach it to something. They're hard to glue down because of the slime, but you can glue any pebbles they happen to be holding to something, or you can put them somewhere and let them grab on.

You can use a chisel and hammer or dremmel to remove some ricordea from the main rock. Cut the main rock below the base of the ricordea. Make sure you cut enough rock so the Ricordea foot is still fully attached. Then you can glue the new frag in a new location

Trying to get mushrooms and ricordeas to reattach is a little tricky if they’re not attached to a piece of rock. Unless you have a designated area in the tank where there’s basically no flow or you have a container to hold them till they reattach. They usually will end up floating away and getting stuck behind the rock where they are hard to reach

This is how I would do it. The rock that's still attached is what makes it possible to glue somewhere else (or to a frag plug to sell).

If it detached without a piece of rock, put it in a little bowl with some rubble until it attaches.

if you can get them to release, powerhead, ice, fingers.
Get a small clear plastic cup or Tupperware, fill bottom with coarse sand or rubble. Put shroom in. Cover with mesh or screen with rubber band. Place on tank bottom in low flow area. Shroom should attach to something in a couple of days.
For screen. I save the mesh bags oranges come in.

That's great!
