I purchased some zoas 3 months back and they haven't grown a bit. Their open and seam fine. I have two AI Primes in a 40g so I pulled the few heads off the plug and moved them to the top half of the tank. Too much light up there ? What might be the problem? My GSP is growing like mad and the parameters are spot on.

I'll attach a photo they were on the bottom rock on the right and I moved them up top.

Thanks !

GSP will grow like a weed in a mud hole lol. Some zoas grow slower than others. What kind are they? Can you take a close up pic?

Those are rastas. Like medium high end zoa (for my tastes anyway). I have some too. I’m not sure exactly how fast they grow but I think I’m my last post people said they’re medium-slow growers but it depends on the tank. For example line below havent grown a single new head and I’ve had them like 1.5 months.

@footgal is supergirl with zoa. She may be able to help you more

What are your nitrates at?
my rastas took awhile to grow and they definitely don’t grow fast. Did they look like they were stretching for light? Moving them up shouldn’t be an issue doesn’t look like they went up to far. Just watch them. Lower light longer stalks higher light shorter stalks.

These two lovely people have already said everything I needed to say! They’re Rastas, they enjoy higher light, dirty-ish water, and the occasional reefroids is appreciated but not required. They’re not the fastest growers but after they’re established they can get goin pretty good

Just careful with moving them that high- they’ve been 2” off the sand for 3 months, then all of a sudden they’re 6” from the surface. Keep an eye on them, and if they seem unhappy, maybe move them slightly lower, and gradually move them up :) if you want to help boost zoa growth, iodine can really help! Just stick to recommended dosing, cause excess can be harmful. I use Seachem’s Aquavitro Fuel, and my zoas love it.
